One of the UK’s largest natural yoghurt brands was founded by a migrant who stumbled into the yoghurt-making trade by chance. Ghulam Zouq emigrated from Pakistan to the UK as a teenager in the 1960s. He initially worked in the textile trade, but eventually started selling dairy products wholesale to local shops.

Zouq struck up a friendship with one of his dairy suppliers, who showed him how yoghurt was made. Over time, Zouq began to create his own yoghurt products, widening his ambitions to include his own range of lassis.
