I’m originally from Nigeria – I lived there for the first seven years of my life. We arrived in the UK in 2008. My parents have gone through a lot to get us where we are now and I give it all back to them.

My dad has been in the candy business for about 10 years. Four years ago, we saw an opportunity in Lewisham. We prayed about it and I feel like God just said: ‘That’s the one.’

We have the best customer service. We make you laugh the moment you enter our shop – it’s all about good energy, good vibes. I just like making everybody happy. There was a customer whose child was crying. We gave him a lollipop and she was so grateful. She came back and bought lots of candy and she still comes back. It’s like one little act of kindness can spread – it’s contagious.

My dad’s not old, but sometimes he has ideas that are a bit old school. I bring more new generation ideas, and sometimes we clash, but what I love is that we’re always together. And we learn from each other. It really helps having both parents on my side with the business because they give me ideas and we bounce off each other. It’s a blessing.
