easyJet
Stelios Haji-Ioannou
easyJet was founded by Greek-Cypriot Stelios Haji-Ioannou in 1996. His father, Lucas, was a shipping magnate, and Stelios followed in his footsteps, founding his own shipping firm at the age of 25. Starting out with two domestic routes between Luton and Scotland, Stelios achieved quick success with the airline by offering flights across Europe that were “as affordable as a pair of jeans”.
Stelios developed easyJet into the easyGroup, offering a wide range of businesses under the ‘easy’ brand, from easyGym to easyCoffee.
